Install Spanrise on your Intel Mac.

Spanrise is designed to be a small, self-contained app. It installs no driver, kernel extension, background daemon or privileged helper.

Requirements

An Intel Mac (x86_64).
macOS Catalina 10.15, Big Sur 11, Monterey 12 or Ventura 13.
Your own ChatGPT account and an internet connection.

Install in three steps

Download the current Spanrise disk image.
Open the disk image and copy Spanrise to your Applications folder.
Open Spanrise, then sign in directly on the ChatGPT page.

First opening on macOS. Spanrise is locally signed but is not Developer ID notarized by Apple. After copying it to Applications, Control-click Spanrise, choose Open, then confirm Open once. Subsequent openings work normally.

Removing Spanrise

Quit Spanrise from its menu-bar menu, disable Open at Login if you enabled it, and move Spanrise.app to the Trash.
